Who long ago said of Maui, “the memory will stay with me always.”


May 1, Maui, Hawaii–The famous humorist pictured here during a recent enactment said in the eighteenth century:

“I went to Maui to stay a week and remained five. I never spent so pleasant a month before, or bade any places goodbye so regretfully. I have not once thought of business, or care or human toil or trouble or sorrow or weariness and the memory of it will remain with me always.

He is Mark Twain, as quoted in the front page of my new book coming soon, Voices of Aloha Beyond the Beach. Proof of the finished book is finally on order. Hurray!
