Why are are these Hawaiian hula dancers wearing glitzy cellophane skirts?

Because they became popular in the 1940’s when tourists discovered Hawaii and arrived by boat.. Now authentic skirts are usually worn as more respect for the culture has evolved. The glitzy ones are sometimes worn in one dance in a show. To Hawaiians cellophane skirts today represent an insult to the culture.

How many hundreds of leis did it take to take care of a big crowd on Kaanapali Beach?

Kaanapali–The largest crowd this blogger has ever seen alongside the Kaanapali Beach path enjoyed the fragrances of beautiful leis.  How many. Close to 1200 people gathered at the Hyatt Residences.  What were these people doing there?  GOOGLE Voices of Aloha on Magical Maui for more provocative photos.

WHY DID SO MANY MEN ON MAUI WALK A MILE AND GET BLISTERS JUST FOR WEARING SHOES SATURDAY?

Because they are not used to walking around in high heels.
To support women who are victims of domestic violence and take a pledge to do all they can to prevent it, 200 men wearing 400 high heel shoes paraded a mile around Lahaina’s outlet mall in  for Women Helping Women, the non-profit that helps abused women. Here is what we looked like.
