HOKULE’A VOYAGING CANOE DEPARTS LAHAINA
Resting in the waves at dusk last evening, the voyaging canoe Hokule’a crew prepared to sail to Hawaii Island at midnight, last stop before beginning its worldwide cruise. A proud moment said many at morning ceremonies. VOICES OF MAUI TALK STORY. See my short story in next Thursdays Lahaina News.

PUTTING ON THE RITZ AT THE RITZ
The Voices of Maui camera last week caught hundreds of fashion industry visitors all dressed in white wending their way to dinner on the beach at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua. Some 1500 people were brought here by the company to enjoy Maui. Another important boost for our economy. The Celebration of the Arts (see previous posts) began the next day. WHAT SPECIAL PERFORMERS CELEBRATED A SIGNIFICANT EVENT ON MAUI?
The satiried. They danced. They joked. The employees of the 50 year old Most Hawaiian Hotel doffed their usual uniforms and dressed up and dispensed hundreds of leis to commentorate the bulding of the Kaanapali Beach Hotel in 1964, the second hotel along the main part of Kaanapali Beach. Missing: the bardenders including the 400,000 mai man and no Tommy on the stage who completed his 38th year Sunday serving mothers on Mother’s Day. AN ADDITION TO VOICES OF MAUI TALK STORY, LLC WHICH CONTAINS MORE NEARLY A THOUSAND PHOTOS TAKEN OVER THE LAST 15 YEARS.
HOW WE CELEBRATE HAWAIAN CULTURE
At the Celebration of the Arts, from dawn to midnight.
First, a cleansing ceremony in the ocean at sunrise (did not go this year), later opening ceremonies in the lobby of the Ritz Carlton Kapalua, informative talks including one on Hawaiian adornments (shown), the luau show (shown), after hours entertainment with a friend greeting a friend. Blogger focused on learning and not photographing or there would have been much moe. Thinking of posting a couple You tube videos when there is time.
