EXCLUSIVE AND FULLY UPDATED: KAANAPALI BEACH RESORT AS YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN IT BEFORE
WITH A POSIBLE HURRICANE KAANAPALI BEACH RESORT WAS TURNED INTO A SERREAL GHOST TOWN AND WITHIN 14 HOURS RETURNED TO ITS FORMER GLORIUS SELF . ULAPALAKU RANCH WAS NOT SO LUCKY. IT LOST..–IF YOU CAN BELIVE IT 50 MILES OF FENCES, HUNDREDS OF WONDERFUL EUClPTUS TREES. ABOVE KAPALUA WAS ALSO SOMEWHAT BATTERED. 7 pm Thursday, Kaanapali Beach and later Lahaina were totally buttoned up before the storm. Fourteen hours later, it was back to business as amazing workers put everything back together. Visitors who stayed inside all evening Thursday all showed up on Friday. EXCLUSIVE: 31 PHOTOS:THE HISTOIC SUGAR CANE TRAIN AND ITS PEOPLE COMMEMORATE ITS LAST DAY
AUG. 1–Most photographers thought the last day of the historic sugar cane train on tracks that once hauled sugar cane from fields to mill was about the train. This photographer/blogger thought it was about the people..the little kieki on there first and last ride, the grandparents bring their grand klds and the old timers young at heart who used to ride the train in younger days. In we salute the crew, the passengers. and the train conceived and built by the late Mac McKelvey. Norm Bezane VOICES OF MAUI TALK STORY PHOTOS. NOSTALGIA PHOTOS TO COME FROM THE FILES.

Thousands of people donated money, time and supplies to allow a little group of Hawaiian canoe builders to pull this off — a triumph of Hawaiian spirit and will. Mo’okiha o Pi’ilani: Wood, 63 ft long, 20 ft wide, Fiberglas-coated double hulls, double-masted, lashed together with 9 miles of nylon rope, crew of 14, weighs 11 tons, one long-shaft outboard engine for docking. THE JOYS OF KA’ANAPALI: Following up on last January’s popular post we feature the superior people the planet (women) plus a few guys so as not to seem chauvinistic.
Colorful people are everywhere and are often photographed for my books, for publicity purposes but mostly for fun.
