BLOGGER COMPLETES FUN INTERVIEW ON WGN RADIO
CHICAGO, Sept 27–The hour was late for me (10 pm) but it was a pleasure for the blogger to appear on the same station that I used to listen to Cub games on when I was in high school. Hallways at the studio were named for icons of the station including Wally Phillips and Bob Collins. More of what was asked and answered in the next post. (Sara Foley photo)

The blogger is still basking in the honor of being named as a finalist for the best independent journalists in the State of Hawaii in 2015.
The blogger has had a life that is bookends. First a journalist, 40 years a pr guy, the last nine as a journalism again, columnist and author. I am getting more and more into the journalism thing, which I should have been all along.
Check out tomorrow when I post my coverage of a protest. As usual in Chicago, everyone act first class; protestors and the police who handled it just right.
Enjoy the photos while we go off to the new river walk for a drink while we watch the tourists boas and speedboats move down the Chicago River to Lake Michigan.
And we have a Tiki Bar too, just blocks from where we are staying. MAUI NO KA OI (the best in Hawaii, CHICAGO NOK KAI OI ON THE CONTINENT (Sometimes knon
HOW WE CELEBRATE FATHERS DAY MAUI STYLE
Ka’anapali Beach–Some of us walk a tightrope. Many of us–hundreds of us go to brunch at the Most Hawaiian Hotel. Mothers Day attracts a thousand brunchers, far surpassing Father/s Day
Here the blogger departs from policy by showing food, relevent though because this is what this father consumed and the people who made me a Dad.
WHY IS THIS GUY STANDING IN THE OCEAN WITH A TRIPOD?
KA’ANAPALI BEACH, May 31–Some photographers will go to any length to get just the right shot.. What did he get, and was it worth if. Probably. He was shooting some of the tallest waves since on the West Side of Maui for a long time. Check out the next post. to see the bloggers version of what was happening. COMING IN JUNE: MY DEFINITIVE BOOK ON THE REMARKABLE PEOPLE OF ALOHA with photos.
IF YOU HAVE A MOUTHFUL OF PIZZA, IS IT POSSIBLE TO TAKE A GREAT PHOTO
LAHAINA, MAY 29–Say you are eating a delicious slice at the new Pi Artisan Pizzeria in Lahaina on the site of the former David Paul’s restaurant. You look out on the ocean and pause mid bite and make this photo and then return for another piece; This blog does not normally show sunsets believing they are somewhat of a cliché, but these two figures silhouetted by the sun made the early evening just a little more interesting.
And this is what you saw if you looked the other way, the white columns bathed in light.

TWO MESSAGES FROM MAUI OF NATIONAL SIGNIFICANCE
KAANAPALI BEACH, MAY 15. MESSAGE ONE: FEAR THE FORK, a t shirt warning about lifting your fork too often to grow fat and shorten your life, as seen on the Ka’anapali Beach path.
MESSAGE TWO: FEAR CONGRESS whose conservative members fail to fund Amtrak properly because they do not like “big government. ” In case conservatives have not noticed, big government gives Amtrak the funds to install a system that cuts train power automatically when speeding. A national safety board official said this week’s train crash would not have occurred had this system been in place. Amtrak has a been trying to add this protection system wide for many years but has not gotten the funds to complete it. It does not matter what improper actions the engineer took. The automatic system would have slowed the train.
Big government by the way also rebuilds infrastructure (including bridges that are disintegrating through lack of funding), protects our food supply when agencies have enough money do to so and keeps this country great.
Wake up Congress. Support our infrastructure and if your only decision maker is does a law help business, remember that business only thrives if it can has infrastructure to deliver its goods.
